From 1600 – 2300 (4pm to 11pm), Central PA will be running the Three Mile Island exercise which comes around every 2 years. The plant simulates a critical emergency regarding the release of radioactive gases, which involves almost every emergency agency in the area as well as the NRC and PEMA.
You’re invited to participate in the drill. If you’re interested in helping to staff the Cumberland County EOCs, get in touch with Dan Sullivan, KO1D, or Sam Michaels (kb3ooj (at) arrl (dot) net), KB3OOJ. No experience necessary.
PLEASE NOTE: You will be hearing emergency communications on county frequencies as well as amateur frequencies. These are SIMULATIONS and there is not an actual emergency. Communications which are part of the exercise will always be identified with the phrase “This is a drill.”
