General club meeting for all members and guests at 7p at Carlisle Regional Medical Center in the Education Center (large conference room), 361 Alexander Springs Road, Carlisle.  Come in the rightmost entrance opposite of the emergency entrance, make a right, then make a left.  The conference room will be on your right. Talk in on any of the repeaters if you need help finding us.

Ham Exams

We offer testing prior to each meeting.  Testing begins promptly at 6pm. You must pre-register.

Cost: $14

Registration: Call Sam Michaels, KB3OOJ at (717) 620-9334 or email sam (at) samtheham (dot) org.  You must pre-register.

What to Bring:

  1. For currently-licensed candidates, the ORIGINAL and a COPY (that we can keep) of your FCC-issued license AND if you haven’t received your most recent FCC-issued license for your class, the ORIGINAL and a COPYof your CSCE.
  2. For expired licensees wishing to seek credit, the ORIGINAL and a COPY (that we can keep) of your FCC-issued license, or an FCC-issued Proof of License letter showing you as a previous licensee (we can help you obtain verification).
  3. Two forms of photo ID
  4. Simple calculator (add, subtract, multiply, divide); graphing or other advanced devices will have their memories cleared by an examiner prior to the test; iPhones, Blackberries, and other cell phones are NOT permitted to be used as calculators)
  5. $14

All candidates, pass or fail, are encouraged to join the SMRA, which is FREE to newly licensed amateurs (licensed within the past year).

The fine print:

  • Candidates with handicaps should inform us ahead of time so that we may accommodate you; we want everyone to get a license!
  • If you don’t bring everything required, we can’t test you!
  • The examiners may, at their sole discretion, refuse to test or end an exam at any time for any reason.
  • Technician applications are emailed for electronic entry and are usually assigned callsigns the next day.  Upgrades may begin using their new privileges immediately, however new licensees CANNOT get on the air until the FCC issues a callsign.
  • SMRA tests are conducted under the guidelines of and examiners are accredited through W5YI-VEC.
